Traffic Impact and Street Closures

Route Overview:

  • The race will begin and end in downtown Morgan Hill. The entire course will be closed to traffic from approximately
    9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Wednesday May 16.
  • The race exit Morgan Hill westbound, passing Chesboro Reservoir and continuing north on McKean Rd. It will turn onto eastbound Bailey Ave, turning south onto Santa Teresa Blvd and continuing on Hale Ave southbound toward the finish line in Morgan Hill.

  • Race officials are working with CHP to provide escorted access to the majority of residents impacted by the route

Wednesday May 16

  • 9am. through 4:00 p.m.; Bailey Avenue from Santa Teresa Boulevard to McKean Road.

o  Traffic to IBM Facility at 555 Bailey will be allowed throughout the day but will be slowed with all traffic merging into one lane via traffic control signage beginning at 8am. Traffic will be restricted to entering and exiting to/from the Monterey and Highway 101 side of Bailey Ave. Access eastbound on Bailey from McKean will be closed until approximately 4 p.m.

o  Traffic to and from Cinnabar Hills Golf Club will be allowed until 10:20 a.m. and will resume at 4 p.m.

  • 9 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.; McKean Road/Uvas Road from Bailey Avenue to Oak Glen Avenue/Willow Springs Road
    • Race officials and CHP will escort residents on Willow Springs Road via Hale Avenue
  • 9 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.; Santa Teresa Boulevard/Hale Avenue from Llagas Road to Bailey Avenue
  • 9 a.m. through 4:00 m.; Oak Glenn Ave from McKean Road to W Edmundson Ave
    • Oak Glen will be divided between Green Acre and Edmundson to allow CHP to escort local traffic
  • 9 a.m. through 4:00 m.; W Edmundson Ave from Dewitt Ave to Oak Glen
    • Race officials and CHP will escort residents on Edmundson
  • 9 a.m. through 4:00 m.; Dewitt Ave from Spring Ave to W Edmundson Ave
    • Race officials and CHP will escort residents on Dewitt between Spring and Edmundson

Where possible, alternate vehicular routes will be posted.

 

California Highway Patrol will accompany the race and make every effort to minimize the impact to residents, businesses and traffic. Streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic including VTA Buses; streets will re-open at the times listed above.

No vehicular traffic will be allowed during any given closure: Fire, police, and ambulance emergency vehicles will not be affected by road closures. Wherever possible, alternate vehicular routes will be posted. California Highway Patrol will accompany the race and make every effort to minimize the impact to residents, businesses and traffic.

 

Businesses:  Due to restricted vehicular access, businesses are encouraged to schedule deliveries accordingly.

 

Spectators: Everyone is welcome to attend the free Lifestyle Festival at the Finish Line in downtown Morgan Hill. We also encourage fans of all ages to line the race route to cheer on the riders as they compete in one of the world’s finest professional cyclist races.
